What is a Hyperloop Track?
A Hyperloop track is an advanced high-speed transport system that moves passengers in special capsules within vacuum-sealed tubes. This reduces air resistance, allowing extremely fast travel speeds. The first successful Hyperloop test took place in Las Vegas, USA, on November 9, 2020, reaching a speed of 161 km/h over a 500-meter track.
India’s Development of Hyperloop Technology
India’s Hyperloop test track is located at the IIT Madras Discovery Campus and has been developed through a collaboration between Indian Railways, the Avishkaar Hyperloop Team of IIT Madras, and TuTr Hyperloop Startup. The initial test runs have started at 100 km/h, with plans to scale up to 600 km/h in future trials.

Globally, Hyperloop technology is being explored across several countries. Europe has recently launched the longest Hyperloop test track, aiming to showcase its viability for future transportation networks. Experts predict that by 2050, Europe will have a 10,000 km-long Hyperloop network, revolutionizing transit systems across the continent.
